Anaheim. Episode 2: Playing for Pride.

Incredible. The only word to describe MLG Anaheim so far. The new crews of BHMS and team EG taking off their hoods and rising to the challenge of LAN and finishing above the US Veteran RMP and RLS teams. The finals loom, the smoke has cleared and only three teams have survived the carnage.

The pride of Europe: SK EU (Inflame, Another, Enigmz).

The juggernaut of the US: Check Six. (Flexxi, Twixzorz, Toesz)

The fast-paced finesse of Korea: Button Bashers. (Hiren, Orangemarma, Numberone)

Having a somewhat VIP pass from my home in Australia, I've been on Skype with a few of the teams from Blackrock and have managed to hear the ambiance surrounding Anaheim. As I write this the battle cries of Check Six and Button Bashers echo through the air.

Battle Cries are one of the well known ways to win WoW Tournaments, the Asians really have perfected the art, anyone seeing a trend?

A few sentences to describe the teams thus far in MLG Anaheim.

Team EG : The new almost anonymous lineup of team EG has actually impressed the world. Tender stepping up and filling some very large shoes with Smatin performing fantastically and pulling off some impressive play. The team had some impressive wins and very close losses. 2-3 against BB and a very butt-clenching 2-3 series against Check Six. Hoping to see more of this team in the future as EG is proving to the world that they're still in the game.

SK US: A tough time for the veterans and once unstoppable team of SK US. They had some great games but the score-board will really change how they are viewed as a team by the public. They are all great players but haven't been playing with the same glint in their eye this tournament, hopefully just a rough patch as these players have already done more than enough to prove themselves as professional players.

SK EU: The Europeans have brought forth their team to the ring and have not disappointed. A rough start but a beautiful finish, the finals are looming and this team has just 3-0'd the what seemed to be an invincible team of Check Six.

Check Six: If you think you've seen damage think twice. Check Six looked to be an unbeatable team. They're the top caliber of their comp in the world. An amazing start, fast paced, aggressive style was halted in the end by Button Bashers. They seemed to lose their aggressive style of creating pressure and were knocked out by SK EU in the end. A few of the games I could hear the yells of Twix, having a high morale really rewarded the team but contrasting it to the last few games it sounded like a completely different team.

Complexity BHMS: The wild card tournament team were perceived as the underdogs in this tournament. But after day two they had built a reputation for themselves. I'm sure Complexity doesn't regret sending this team to Anaheim after an impressive 4th place finish. This team really seemed to have it down vs some of the RMP and RLS teams at Anaheim but not so much vs the mirrors against SK EU.

Fnatic: The three top tier players of Fnatic have finished in 6th place. The team will probably be disappointed but these players have great attitudes and are sure to bounce back. I just wish i saw the team play with the same success as they have on live, I've personally seen what they are capable of and when this team is on their A game some amazing things occur.

Button Bashers: These guys are absolutely.. insane. The fast paced aggressive play style of Button Bashers is what makes me love this game. I honestly did not see this coming and think this team genuinely deserves to be regarded as one of the best if not the current best RMP in the world. Be warned this team can be mistaken for a triple DPS team with the damage Numberone puts out, one of the most impressive Priests I have seen.

Complexity: This team had some very high expectations but seemed to have some trouble during this event. This team dominated in the practice phases but when the LAN beast arrived it quickly devoured this team. Finishing in 7th place.

Update: The finals are underway, SK EU and Button Bashers duking it out. Which continent will go home with the pride and respect, not to mention money?
